Update.

17 09 2009

I haven’t blogged for a long time have I? Even Stephanie’s complaning. lols. Its just that, a lot of things happened, and I just don’t feel like blogging it yet. No inspiration. Right now, the mood seems right, so here I go..

Team trip to East Coast! I haven’t been there for a very very long time. it has changed so much! Had a whole bunch of us around. I just realized how serene Bedok Jetty can be in the evening. While the rest of them were encamped at Mcdonalds, I decided to cycle to the jetty to sit down. Its the first time I felt peace in a long long time.

After so long, I cycled like a nutcase back and forth. You don’t really appreciate distance till you try cycling down East Coast Park. Brought me back to the old days, a decade ago, where I would cycle like said nutcase up and down West Coast.. whether it was to Ginza Plaza, or to Pandan Reservoir or even to West Coast Park. I’ve AGED.

One drawback about the area, its near to Changi airport, so the sounds of the planes flying in and out of one of the world’s busiest airports can be a tad bit distracting. I counted 22 planes flying in and out throughout the whole time I was there. And to think that, I’ve been telling a lot of people who have been asking, that I haven’t been on a plane before. I AM SERIOUS. Never had. I have been on foot since the dawn of my birth.

Speaking of foot. Ryan bought his new entry-level DSLR, and was so excited to try it. He had access to the car, so the first stop we went to was Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. We basically walked around the Reserve trying to explore whatever that could be explored, which was plenty actually. I haven’t been to the Reserve for a long time, so I was quite surprised to “discover” that there was a lot of things I missed out!

Ryan shocked this fella. Almost stepped on his tail. We spent 5 minutes just looking at this guy, who was content digging a hole by a tree.

Den after about an hour, we got exhausted and decided to head back to the car. It was loooong downhill walk, but it was made worthwhile because we saw an old friend on the way down!

There was a troop of monkeys happily sitting by the side of the path like nobody’s business. I counted 15 healthy troop members. I don’t know which species they really are, but its really heartening to know there’s a healthy population of primates still active in one of Singapore’s nature reserves.

After a few minutes of debating inside the car, we decided to head to Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, the premier mangrove reserve on the mainland. The other of course, being Chek Jawa, which I haven’t stepped foot on before.

The Reserve was absolutely fantastic in the late afternoon, other than the murderous mosquitoes, it was perfect day for a stroll. Next 3 photos were taken on top of the Aviary watch tower.

Nice right? Walked around a hell lot. I’m looking for a good place, other than my FB, to upload all of the shots. I know deviantart is good, but that’s being used for the cosplay shoots I do. I’ll see how.

It was on the way back to the Visitors Centre did something really epic fail happened to me.

We just about reached the Centre and were preparing to exit, but Ryan said he needed to go to the toilet. So I told him to go ahead while I waited outside. I was standing on the typical wooden boardwalk, bordered by greenery to both my left and right.

I spied a sign on one of the walls, stating to BE CAREFUL OF CROCODILES. Yes, there are mangrove crocodiles hanging around if they’re not busy being buayas or dissing Croc shoes. Suddenly, I head scratching sounds below me, where my left foot was. When I looked down.. lo and behold..

No.. I didn't see this dude. But I sure wish I did!

No.. I didn't see this dude. But I sure wish I did!

Staring back at me, was a 1.5m long water monitor lizard. *cue horror scene music*

Safe to say, after reading that crocodile warning and seeing a reptilian head near my feet, I did my best impression of Usain Bolt and ran. The lizard too, jumped and ran. Ryan peeked his head outside, and asked whats wrong. I told him everything. H e didn’t laugh, because he knew what we were looking at.

Just looking at it already gives me the creeps. URGH. Anyway, we spied a few of the water monitors on the way back, and snapped away. It was pretty much my closest encounter of the reptilian kind.

There. The post did what it was supposed to do. Truthfully speaking, I didn’t like the situation any more than you do. How was I supposed to tell you how we felt, without you incurring some other form of emotional injury? What you wrote in the team thread, was basically what I thought was appropriate, albeit weeks before. You can tell it has a profound effect on the team, because after Oreo’s and Lorenzo’s reply, we basically fell silent. It was that kind of uncomfortable scenario you know? Let you know and we’ll be damned. Don’t let you, and we’ll also be damned. Yes, I do see you as my younger sister, as I see the rest of the female team members. I didn’t know any other way to put it. You can think that you want to stay away from the team, or minimise interactions with us. I don’t really know about that, but I do know is, I smiled and had fun with you weeks after the incident happened. I don’t keep bad feelings inside of me. I seriously hope, you took away something from the incident, as I have done myself.

Thrills.

14 06 2009

Yesterday was probably the most spastic funniest day I’ve ever had with the team. lols.

We went to Scape opposite Cine for the StreetFest, basically an event for cosplayers all over Singapore. Saw a few familiar faces, plenty of characters, a lot of disgusting things as well. Shall not elaborate. lols. I refused to bring my camera yesterday, because it was just as I expected, a lot of photogs, but less cosplayers. Which means, this hypothetical scenario keeps repeating over and over again.

Me: Hi, can I take a picture of you?
Cosplayer: SURE!
*poses*

And suddenly, your prime spot to adjust your body to get the perfect frame and angle is suddenly assailed by photographers armed with all manners of zoom lenses, flash and other camera paraphernalia which I don’t even know their names. In short, they were like a bunch of pirahnas.

"EH QUICK! That one posing liao!"

"EH QUICK! That one posing liao!"

Then there were some of them who actually went there to just.. gawk. Not to look and enjoy the atmosphere of people who enjoy cosplaying, but to ogle and make crude remarks. I don’t even know what to say about these guys.

Anyway, after the whole thing was over, we went over to that new, funky shopping centre opposite Centrepoint. And yes, I forgot the name and I am lazy to freakin Google it. Anyway, the place has this cool escalator running from the 4th floor to 7th floor on the freakin EXTERIOR of the building. So we went up, acting like a bunch of really noob tourists. LOLS. At the top, we got ready the cake we prepared for Bryan, coz it was his birthday! After plenty of laughter, comments, insults and jokes.. we took the lift down to the 4th floor.. to go up the escalator again. LOLS!

YES spastic I know. But its a cheap thrill! Once back on the 7th floor, we spied a really tall circular makan place at the top of Meritus Mandarin, and we decided to go over, JUST to see what it was.

38 floors and a embarassing moment later, we found out it was a lounge bar call Chatterbox. lols. So we went back down and called it a night. Some of us went to Cine for a drink, and that’s that for Saturday.

This morning, woke up to a fever. Yay. And as I type this entry down, my nose is dripping like a water tap. Hai.

CURSE YOU FICKLE WEATHER!!

1 06 2009

Wow. Its now June. damn fast eh? Felt so alive in January, blinked, and now its the midway point of 2009. 6 more months, and then it’ll be 2010! So before that arrives, its always good to do a check on yourself.

For example, I managed to do 90% of what I set myself out to do. The only glaring void; my driving license. THAT, will have to wait a bit more longer. hehe.

This year is gonna be a slack year for me, because I just found out my application to SIM has been accepted, albeit for the January 2010 batch, not the July 2009 one. I won’t complain though, because I was feeling down throughout the whole month because of this, which would explain my lack of entries. I’ve got 6 more months to spare, and I’m looking for another job to supplement my tuition one.. Suggestions anyone?

Celebrated my dear sister Kuro’s birthday last weekend. Here some scandalous pictures from the get-together!

Group Photo 1. The guy on the extreme left looks like WEI ZHONG!

Kuro was seriously surprised to see us over at her place, because each of us were “busy” with our own stuff.. so we literally caught her off guard. lols. So besides the usual fooling around, drinks and plenty of laughter, we followed up with dinner at Al-Azhar. Note to self: Prata Boom is DAMN SWEET. Eat it only once a year. Also have to remember to stop doing Hardgay impersonations. Have to wait till Bryan comes back. lols.

Speaking of the team, I’ve been arrowed to do their dance for them. Yes. Me. This dance-rusty 24 year old whose joints have long crusted over and unable to move as smoothly as he did 10 years ago. BUT. I’m still taking up the challenge, and one trophy from that would be my left ankle giving way again. lols. I MUST show them something by Saturday. I’m not too overwhelmed by the challenge, just.. unprepared for it? I wasn’t a choreographer in the first place, I just bite from videos, and maybe tweak them here and there. But I’m still gonna show them a good dance to perform for the competition. That’s my mid-year super short term resolution!

Whilst on the topic of years, I met up with a group of my primary schoolmates last Friday. Marcus, Steven, Yuhui and Pei Rong. I was like, WOW, because time really flies so fast, because when I think about it, the last time all of us were together was all the wwwaaaaayyyy back in Primary 3, 15 years ago. Marcus left us in Primary 4 for greener pastures in what ironically is now Yew Tee, and I haven’t seen the 2 girls since I left Qifa. The stories we exchanged, the memories that were revived.. absolutely nostalgic! I just wanted to live it all over again you know. We didn’t take any photos that day, but I made a promise to myself, that when the next gathering comes, there’ll be MORE peeps and then I’m gonna bring my camera along. With a tripod stand if I have to. lols.

I just realized that when I went through my iTunes playlist, I haven’t updated any of my Korean songs yet. I went on K-pop music spree, and I’m gonna list down a few songs to note if you into the Hallyu wave!

I’m doing this dance! For fun.

She’s the new Lee Hyori. Nosebleed alert!

Check out the lyrics. Very touching.

If you want any of these songs, look me up in MSN or FB. =)

OK. This is for all you blog shoppers out there *looks at Jocelyn and Angela*. There’s a new blogshop in town, run by our very own Cine Bimbo, Evan!

michicaloves – COLLECTION #A

The blogshop, which caters to the female population of the nation, has a good choice of casual and semi-formal attire perfect to grace any occasion, bringing style and glamour to whichever event of your choosing! There’s a mailing list as well, so you can be kept informed of new designs brought in! Hai. Suddenly, I wish there was a list of male blogshops I could go through. hehe. Check out the blogshop y’all!

PLUSHIES. Except for 1.

PLUSHIES. Except for 1.

That picture on top pretty much sums up my weekend. lols. The whole Team had plushie catching machine fever. and I think its all my fault.

Marina Square has this really cool shop that is full of that money-sucking-scam-filled claw machines that promises you a soft toy if you manage to grip the toy properly. The Team walked past it, and Shiro and Kousagi were enamoured by that big Stitch in the photo. So after the guy was done, I realized I had several one dollar coins in my pocket, and itchy-itchy-itchy put it inside to try my luck. And as always, I missed. But it was this <——> close. So I tried again. Eventually, I managed to do it, with Oreo’s help, and I gave it to Kousagi. By this time, EVERYONE was playing.

So my returns yesterday were;

  1. The big Stitch (Gave Kousagi)
  2. 2 turtles (Gave Kousagi)
  3. 1 Pooh Bear (Gave Oreo)
  4. 1 Pooh Bear in a cow suit (Got passed around, and landed up with Mayi. lols)

Yeah. I didn’t bring any back. The best was Ben though. There was this particular machine called Marksman, which isn’t the typical claw machine. But you had to control a pushing pointer on 2 vectors, up and right, and then manouver it to push down a metal plate bearing a number, through a random shape done in acrylic plastic. Confusing? You gotta see the machine to understand the mechanics of it. lols. Ben spent 3 bucks doing nothing but understanding the game. DAMN funny. OK la, among all of us, he spent the most, so he got the most plushies.

Really reminds me of the days in Cine and PS where we ended up with;

The big one behind was part of Catch 3, Get him free option. We left it at Hougang.

The big one behind was part of Catch 3, Get him free option. We left it at Hougang.

This was on the first day Cineleisure arcade brought in the claw machine. Darren went nuts.

This was on the first day Cineleisure arcade brought in the claw machine. Darren went nuts.

STITCH! Hot favourite.

STITCH! Hot favourite.

This is all the result of watching Darren plot, plan and manouver his way around to catch one.. only for him to miss, cuss, followed by a few dramatic turns and facial expressions and den followed by changing more money to play. He usually gets it at the next attempt though. I had the same reactions yesterday, but spent a bit more money than him. lols. Grass will taste damn good next week.

Picture of the day:

Eriol, with Shiro's Dollfie.. whose name slipped my mind.

Eriol, with Shiro's Dollfie.. whose name slipped my mind.

Check out the doll on Eriol’s arm. I found out yesterday its actually a HOBBY. so I looked it up.

Dollfie (I believe that version of Dollfie is in that page)

Think Barbie, except with much more cooler clothes, funky hairstyles, blue tack and no gay-looking Ken doll. Kousagi and Shiro have one. And I see the way they invest in the dolls.. I got one complain though. I can’t differenciate between guys and girls. That doll up there, its a guy.

CANNOT SEE RIGHT?

And the other thing that freaked me out, was how easily detachable the dolls were. This was demonstrated to me over dinner one night, when Kousagi and Shiro was discussing their dolls, when suddenly Shiro simply detached her doll’s head into two equal pieces. It was like breaking an egg, albeit SMOOTHLY. I had maggi goreng sitting inside my mouth being chewed, and I was quite close to having it being maggi goreng on Mayi’s face instead. Imagine Saw. That freaky. Or maybe I’m just a big ayam.

Marina Square anyone? lols.

30 04 2009

I’m still up. Waiting for the Champion’s League Semifinal game between MY club Manchester United and Arse-anal Arsenal. It SHOULD be a cracker of a game. I hope.

Anyway, I came across this article while surfing around after getting bored of watching my downloaded animes.

Builders find Auschwitz message

Can you imagine that? A message left behind in 1944, to be found in 2009. God knows whether the people in the letter are still alive, but don’t you think that they actually managed to leave a piece of their history behind, to let the future discover? I can imagine how proud and emotional their descendants would be. Then I suddenly remembered why my email address has a peculiar number behind it (for those who don’t know, one of my email addresses is darkscythe2085@hotmail.com).

2085.

Which is 100 years after the year I’m born. I remembered what was going through my mind when I first thought of that email addie;

“Would I be alive 100 years after I was born?”

Kind of morbid know. Chances are, it won’t happen. But then again, you might never know. The point is, I was looking to imagine how it’d be like in Year 2085. The fella who wants to choose that email address would be shocked to find out its been in use since 2003. Maybe in 2085, my son’s son’s son’s children will be born. I wonder what his name will be? Will it have a Shah behind as well? What kind of legacy will I leave for them? Would they be of mix blood? Would they be handsome / beautiful?

What will be new in 2085? Would there still be ERP? Would cars be flying instead of on the road? Would Calvin’s son finally get a JC girlfriend? Will there be JCs in that era? Can Ryan finally eat mayonnaise? Will phones be able to transmit live images without lagging, across all the continents? Would the sea levels be the same? Great fun to see what will be in the future ain’t it.

Sometimes, I wish I could freeze myself at this age, and then watch as my descendants grow up into the future. Cullen-like, if you may. Well, according to most nature forecasters, Earth would run out of fuel, have the ozone layer completely depleted, bla bla bla.. pandemics.. endemics.. Not a really bright future if you look at it pessimistically. BUT. We ARE the smartest species on the planet. We’ll find a way through. Will my descendants have a hand in it? Will they get to live off the planet?

I got a million and one questions running through my head right now. I just wish I could travel to the future, and see how Muhd Fadzli Shah the 4th will do in the future. On the other hand, what I can do right now, is to let him see what I did in the past.

I have no idea whether my 2 blogs will survive far into the future. There, they can read everything I went through, the mistakes I made, the people I loved and loathed, the things I’ve seen and heard.. never thought a blog can be that significant right? I look at my grandparents and think about the things they’ve seen in their lifetime.. and then comes my experiences.. to be passed down to my son. and his son after that.

I think you guys can tell this post is churning up thought trains in my head more confusing than Ryan’s hair when it was long and unruly. But you get what I mean. I just hope, and pray, that the future will be bright and happy for my descendants.

By the way, I’ve updated the About page, and also added a new one as well, Global Lyrics. Check out the tabs at the top of the blog.

Week.

29 04 2009

7 days from my last post. What have I been up to? Frankly speaking, you guys know I’m the type with super short term memory. so I’ll try to recall bits and pieces here and there.

Over the weekend spent time with the Team. Top One KTV~. HAHA so FUN! For majority of them, its the first time hearing me sing Mandarin songs, and for all of them, first time hearing me sing Spanish. LOLS! The place is damn cool as well. They even had this smoke machine that was meant to recreate a concert stage like setting.. so like the curious cat I am, I pressed the “Mist” (or was it Smoke) button, and out it came. The thing is, I didn’t know whether it has a set timer upon which it stops spewing out smoke, or I had to press that button again to stop it from coming out. So I SPAM the button, ala pushing-off-zombies-from-my-face-with-right-click style. I think the smoke machine has a timer. So I practically filled the whole room with smoke, that Mayii was complaining of breathlesness and got out. lols. We had dinner at the prata shop near NAFA, where we gave nicknames to 2 of our most charismatic people. Lorenzo is now known as Black Hole, while Jon is now know as Roti. Roti Jon.

roti-john

Jon’s nick is straightforward. But why Black hole for Lorenzo? Lemme tell you why.

The prata kosong at the shop is a bit special, because they sell it in a set, 2 pieces per set. So while everyone was discussing what they wanted, Kuro wanted 1 set and Mayii wanted 1 set. So after I gave the guy all the orders, save the prata, Lorenzo came into the picture and told the fella 3 sets of prata kosong. Makes sense right? 1 for Kuro, 1 for Mayii and one for Lorenzo himself. So when the fella came back with the prata, it was all 6 pieces on one plate. Lorenzo took the plate and went:

“1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.. All mine!”

I just went WTF Witch style. I looked at his skinny frame and the amount of prata he was eating, it didn’t match. lols. So I ordered the other 2 sets for the 2 poor waiting people, and when it came, Lorenzo was well into his 3rd kosong piece. This was just the beginning.

Rochelle ordered watermelon juice, and she commented it tastes like chilli. I took a sip, and wow. it DID taste like chilli. But I think its just simply the watermelon having sugar added, therefore giving a sweet taste. I don’t want to go into the mechanics here, but certain chemical reactions with sugar causes slight twinges to the taste of the product. She didn’t want it anymore, and since we were all done, she and Shiro decided to remix the drink. With curry, sugar, prata pieces, teh cino ice.. you get the picture. It was concoction worth attracting The Horde.

Zouk was having free drinks night.

Zouk was having free drinks night.

Once that drink was all prepared to be served, out came Lorenzo. He took it, he tasted it, took more tentative sips, and said “hmm.. not bad”.

I saw him the next day, and I’m still talking to him on MSN now, so I can verify for you guys he is not dead.

So now you all understand. Black Hole. lols.

Sunday, the Team went to PS for lunch at PS to discuss some aspects of the Cosplay event. I’m being asked to choreo a dance. -_-”

Not exactly confident about it, but I will do my best!

Anyway, we ended up having a normal lunch instead, and the real discussions started at Hemisphere cafe. I got a clear idea of what to do now. helped a lot! Kuro and Jon went home after that, whilst the rest of us went to Kino, and after that Rochor to have some nice soybean-related products after meeting Bryan. Hungry Sunday lols.

The days passed by uneventfully after that, until yesterday evening. Met up with Huat and Bryan for some L4D action. It was here that I became a prolific Witch disturber. and I also found out that 1 propane tank is not enough to bring a damn Witch, even though she looks like she’s been blown off balance. She keng only. She almost bloody killed me after that. Basket.

Check out these 2 webbies below.

A bit of advice for you guys as well. Have you read of the Swine Flu Outbreak from Mexico? Read about it here:
2009 Swine Flu Outbreak

Basically, its a strain of flu, originating from pigs, that have adapted to become endemic in both humans and birds. To put it simply, it evolved. Reassorting itself to make itself viable in a human or bird host. The closest case to Singapore is in Hong Kong and South Korea where there is 4 and 1 suspected cases respectively. Okay, so while it IS suspected, after the SARS scare a few years ago, please take the necessary precautions. Avoid all pork-related food to stay safe, and the moment you display flu symptoms, go see a doctor straightaway. It has already claimed 159 lives already in Mexico alone.

Please take care of yourselves everyone!
